The Calming Effect of Quilting

When this war with Iran started, about 2 weeks ago, and we found ourselves using our safe rooms when we were entertaining guests, one of my daughters requested a new quilt to cover the couch in her safe room.  I got right to work, and wasn't surprised to find that the piecing and quilting brought me long periods of calm.  This quilt measures 54 by 80 inches and can be used as a single bed blanket.

Pesach Placemats

These placemats were made for my friend who is travelling to Chicago for Pesach.  These will be a house gift for her host. The placemats are made using the scrappy design and each one is slightly different from the other.  I like these so much that I also made a set for myself!

Happy Birthday

Amy's oldest granddaughter is turning 11 this month, and her absolutely favorite pastime is reading.   Here is a couch quilt in the crazy style with a cozy flannel backing for curling up with a book on a cold winter day.  Can you tell that her favorite color is purple?

Purim means Springtime is not far behind

Winter never really came to Jerusalem this year.  There was lots of rain, but not really cold, wintry days.  And now with the corona virus turning our lives upside down, things seem so very out of place.  It's funny that when springtime comes you usually want to get out of the house!  But instead I am feeling that I want to stay home and hibernate.  So, right away I turned to my quilting projects and I finished this twin bed quilt as a gift for a friend's daughter.

It is made in the "scrappy" style, combining purples, green and gold   The scrappy style is actually a version of the classical 9-patch.  If you look closely, you can see that each square is made up of 9 pieces, albeit cut in various directions.

Here it is!!

New Couch Quilts

These quilts are for cuddling up on the couch, in front of the TV, or with a good book.  They are also a wonderful design element for your TV room or living room couch!

This one is made for Hana's living room couch!  The colors are warm and delicious and go beautifully with her beige couch.

And this one has bold and bright colors.  Both quilts are made in the scrappy style, which is an adaptation of a basic 9-patch design. Both quilts measure approximately 42" X 60".

More and More

It's fun creating beautiful quilts!  It gives me so much satisfaction and pleasure.  Yes, I am aware that some of my color choices are a "bit over the top" but that's my style!  Hope you like this scrappy couch quilt, featuring blue and orange!

Back in the Saddle Again

We've been out of commission for awhile because Amy was traveling and both of us were out of batting!

And Amy's newest couch quilt, made in the scrappy design.  This one has a stunning turquoise backing.

Happy Chanukah!

Hana made this quilt for her daughter's living room couch.  It combines both the scrappy design and the building blocks that we like so much.  Hoping it provides her and her family with a lot of cozy time on the new couch!

New Scrappy Couch Quilt

We made this one together using a simple design which we call "scrappy".  If you look close, you can see 9-patch squares.

Our friend asked us to donate a couch quilt for an upcoming Hadassah auction.  So here it is!  Made with love!

Funky Colors

My niece has just moved with her kids from Modi'in to Jerusalem and her daughter will be celebrating her bat mitzvah this month!  Lots of family members are arriving for the big event!

Here is the single bed quilt that I made as my bat mitzvah gift!  The design is scrappy quilt, which is so easy to make!  The hardest part is choosing the colors that go together.  I was told by her mom not to use any pink or purple, so I chose to focus on turquoise, brown and peach as the colors.  Perfect for her new room in the new Jerusalem apartment!  Hope she likes it!
