Color combinations

When planning a quilt, you should have 2 basic colors in mind.  From this everything else will develop.

Here are a few samples that might help you in choosing color combinations for your quilt!

First of all, it is important to choose light and dark colors that complement each other.

Next -- choose color combinations that you love -- such as --
  • brown and blue
  • purple and green
  • blue and beige
  • turquoise and purple
  • brown and turquoise
  • purple and yellow

This new quilt that we just completed combines green and peach. This is a couch quilt (44 x 58 inches) in the scrappy design, with a cozy flannel backing.  The quilt was prepared as a gift for my niece who recently bought a new home.  She has a maroon couch in the family room and I hope this will match!

Another color combination could be maroon and beige as seen in this coexistence couch quilt.

Or blue and gold in this pinwheel baby quilt.

Baby gifts

We've been quilting for about 10 years and our stash of fabrics has been growing!  Here are four new carriage quilts, made this month, all from fabrics in our stash.

This one is based on the scrappy quilt design --

This is a pinwheel design --

These two are 3 inch and 4 inch squares --

It's a Lazy Summer!

This summer, we haven't been making as many quilts as we've been selling!  Here are pictures of the 3 quilts sold this week!

This pinwheel carriage quilt was embroidered with the name "Audrey".

This scrappy crib quilt was sold to a friend of my daughter's as a gift for a one-year old little boy.

This stunning "coexistence quilt" utilizes a piece of Bedouin embroidery as the central element.   The turquoise and the maroon seem to go together so beautifully! On the two sides, you can see the quilting design called "building blocks" which symbolize the building blocks of a shared future together -- between Palestinians and Jews -- here in Israel.

It's a Miracle!

We are so grateful and so proud of our daughter's twins, born at Hadassah Ein Kerem!

Here they are covered with Savta's small quilts, keeping them cozy on the day they came home from the hospital!

Pinwheels

We were recently asked to prepare a number of diaper pads for a friend who wants to try to sell them.

Isn't this pinwheel design cute?

The diaper pad uses the already quilted ski jacket polyester material as the waterproof backing.

These pinwheels are made by cutting 7" squares of each fabric. Each square is cut in half and the resulting triangles are sewn together, each to the other fabric. So cute and so easy!

Pinwheels

A few months ago, I ordered on-line a kit for making a pin wheel quilt from Fabric Cafe. The quilt came with fabric and instruction. Depicted here is a crib quilt that I made with this simple design.

Pinwheel Quilts for Family and Friends

These two pinwheel quilts are quite special.

The one on the left was given to Batya and Amir for their new little baby girl.

The yellow and turquoise one on the right was given to Hana's nephew and wife, Guy and Daisy, for their new little boy.

The color combination together with the pinwheel affect make this a very special baby gift!
