Hi, your quilts are so cute. Just wondering--where do you buy your fabric? I go to the States once or twice a year, and usually buy fabric there to bring back to Israel. Do you shop at the two local quilt shops? Have you seen the quilt fabrics at Bod Ratz in Talpiot?
Hi susan, In Israel, we buy at Pissot at Tzomet Bilu and we've also been to the shop at Bustan HaGalil. I live only 2 blocks from Bod Ratz so I always run in there when I need something additional!!
There is also a shop downtown Jerualem on King George St. that has a lot of cottons. Close to Sport HaBirah, it's a small store with two old Parsi salesmen, and a large stack of cottons next to a staircase in the back. You can identify the store by the long counter on the left as you enter.
But the prices are so much better in the States and the choices are wonderful. My favorite store is JoAnn's and it's everywhere!
are Jerusalem quilters who have been quilting together since 2003. During this time, we have been sharing inspiration, equipment, and fabrics!
It took us a long time to learn how to appreciate what colors go together, how to choose darker fabrics to be more dominant features, and how to make sure that each and every project is unique and remarkable.

Coexistence Quilts
For a long time we have been interested in the subject of mutual respect and understanding between Jews and Arabs, all within Israel. We decided that our quilting should reflect this attitude and, as a result, we created what we are calling our "coexistence quilts" -- quilts that are made jointly by Jewish and Palestinian women. These quilts include an embroidered central element made by the women of "Desert Embroidery" of Laqiya which is a non-profit organization for the empowerment of Bedouin women in the northern Negev. The organization provides the women with a framework for getting together, hearing lectures about a wide array of subjects, and embroidering all sorts of projects for sale in their shop.
In order to see examples of these quilts, choose "coexistence quilts" from the index below.
