New Coexistence Quilt

This quilt turned out to be a stunning work of art, all due to the wonderful embroidery provided by the Bedouin women at Desert Embroidery at Laquiya in the northern Negev.  I also like the peacock fabric which surrounds the embroidery.

Armrest covers

We recently had our carpets cleaned and our TV chair shampooed.  The occasion simply required the making of matching armrest covers for our TV chair.  I chose similar pieces of Bedouin embroidery as the central motif and the rest flowed from that!

Happy Birthday

Amy's oldest granddaughter is turning 11 this month, and her absolutely favorite pastime is reading.   Here is a couch quilt in the crazy style with a cozy flannel backing for curling up with a book on a cold winter day.  Can you tell that her favorite color is purple?

Funky Placemats

My sister asked me to make a set of  placemats as a gift for her daughter-in-law.  Now, the truth is that I've been doing a lot of quilting during this period and I don't have big pieces of fabric left on my shelf.  Everyone tells me to order fabric on-line from Pissot, a great shop at the Bilu junction.  But I find it very hard to choose fabric on-line. So, instead, I decided to create something funky from remnants!  This is a set of 8 placemats, each one different, but all obviously part of one set.

Baby Girl Quilt

This one is for sale!  I've been discovering a lot of calm through my quilting, which is a lifesaver during these strange times.  This quilt was made with some fragments of previous quilts and with a bunch of fat quarters that I had in my stash!

Beautiful Design

My 10-year-old granddaughter has shown real interest in learning how to sew.  In the past, she sewed a number of small items.  Here you can see her first attempt at a real quilt!  It is the size of a couch quilt. She did the design and all the sewing and I did the fancy quilting stitch.  She'll learn the quilting on the next project!  She even learned a bit of embroidery so that she could embroider an inscription to her friend who has a birthday in a few weeks. And let's be honest, no one is taking her to the mall to buy a gift.  So she decided to make one!

New Baby Quilt

Just in the last week, I have gotten orders for 3 crib quilts.  I guess people aren't going out shopping and are looking for ways to buy creative baby gifts!

Here is the first one, all embroidered with the baby's name, and ready to go!

A New T-shirt Quilt

Things are opening up and frankly, it's quite scary.  Who knows what's going to happen.  I just pray that all of us will stay healthy.

Here's my latest -- a t-shirt quilt made for my daughter's new home.  They bought a great ground-floor apartment with a wrap-around garden, not far from us!  Wishing them many years of happiness and health in their new home!

The Calm of Quilting

In these uncertain times, I have been finding a lot of peaceful comfort and calm in my quilting.  This new quilt was actually begun months ago, and now finally I found enough time and energy to complete it.  It is made up of 4" squares of a specialty fabric that has golden marbling running through it.  Sort of regal!

The quilt is meant for my grand-daughter's upcoming 5th birthday!  Wouldn't it be nice to be able to hug her and give it to her in person?

Placemats for the Springtime

It's a crazy time in the world, but at least nothing is stopping me from quilting!  This set of 8 placemats is made specially for my sister!  They are cheery and bright, just right for the soul!

Purim means Springtime is not far behind

Winter never really came to Jerusalem this year.  There was lots of rain, but not really cold, wintry days.  And now with the corona virus turning our lives upside down, things seem so very out of place.  It's funny that when springtime comes you usually want to get out of the house!  But instead I am feeling that I want to stay home and hibernate.  So, right away I turned to my quilting projects and I finished this twin bed quilt as a gift for a friend's daughter.

It is made in the "scrappy" style, combining purples, green and gold   The scrappy style is actually a version of the classical 9-patch.  If you look closely, you can see that each square is made up of 9 pieces, albeit cut in various directions.

Here it is!!
